3 Dynamic Manual Interface (DMI)

DMI is a manual treatment method that was developed by Frank Lowen. DMI activates self-correcting mechanisms of the body. The foundation of this therapy originates from craniosacral osteopathy (Dr John Upledger) and visceral osteopathy (JP Barral). This strictly manual, non-invasive and gentle treatment method has rather simple premises.

Gentle method

Based on the knowledge that the human organism is a flow system that works in rhythms, is regulated by the autonomous nervous system and driven by the heart F. Lowen developed techniques to activate these rhythms to achieve a regulation of the autonomously controlled microcirculation and a stimulation of the cellular metabolism. With this he senses tensions and blockages in the body, which affect the biological regulation mechanisms in the organism.

Back in equilibrium

The human body has an enormous capacity for adaptation activated through an impressive network of receptors (barro – and chemoreceptors) embedded in fascia. This organization of fascia can be observed in the whole body from the epidermis to the cell nuclei.

If physical or psychological stress of mechanical, injury based, nutritional, toxicological or emotional nature disturbs the balance of the body. When the body can`t compensate such events anymore symptoms develop.

Go with the flow

At this point F. Lowen is using reflexes at so called special transition areas to activate the body’s complex regulation systems namely blood pressure-, lymphatic muscle-, tendon-, ligament- or righting reflexes and open the body`s circulatory system.
Collagen tissue looses elasticity, thickens and becomes rigid particularly around the nerve ending of the autonomic nervous system. Collagen tissue that undergoes such changes traps body fluids in its immediate environment. The activation of the regulation systems facilitates the transport of nutrients into cells and the removal an elimination of metabolites which enables the body to heal from inside.

This knowledge is the foundation of our mutual work.
